Hi! Thanks for stopping by. I’m Brooke Batchelor, a Paediatric Registered Nurse, Primary Teacher, Parent Coach & student Play Therapist. I created ‘The Paediatric Nurse’ with an aim to support nurses and other healthcare providers working with children. Through ‘The Paediatric Nurse’, I sponsor workshops & conferences to healthcare professionals that focus on the psychosocial well-being of the child in healthcare, particularly in relation to play therapies. I have plans to offer eCourses for parents and healthcare professionals so keep an eye out for these in the near future!
I have had an interesting career which has included:
- neonatal intensive care;
- general paediatrics;
- emergency paediatrics;
- primary teaching;
- Lecturer in Clinical Practice for undergraduate nurses;
- nursing clinical supervisor; and
- parent coach
I also sit on the Board of Directors for the Association for the Well-being of Children in Healthcare, Australia, and have just been elected the Vice President. The well-being of children in healthcare is my passion 🙂
Currently, I offer support to parents and children through parent coaching. By introducing simple tools that emphasize building connected relationships between parent & child, the difficulties faced by parents can be alleviated as they begin to understand their child more deeply. With techniques that are founded on the latest neuroscience research, parents can confidently implement a few key tools that will transform their family and with lasting results.
When I am not coaching or blogging, I am busy studying, knitting or going on adventures with my husband and 2 daughters. I also have an interest in personal well-being so I am often found looking up the latest articles on healthy living- both western and eastern based. Recently I bought a caravan and I hope to one day live in it with my small family while travelling Australia.
